I'm mindful that most of you are presumably aware of this topic already. And of course, by no means are there any OFFICIAL uniforms on the web as of yet. The sketches that are out there are NOT OFFICIAL, and from several articles I've read they are NO WAY near Nike's design concept(s)! Granted, the UNofficial depictions are talented ideas, but Nike has something MUCH MORE professional in store, says certain insiders...I sure hope so! pale
I've been reading all different kind of tales...truth is NO ONE really knows what Nike has in store. First I read about "DRAMATIC CHANGES", then I read something that makes MUCH SENSE which I have copy & pasted directly from the website located under the line...

On the day that the NFL announced Nike will replace Reebok as the league’s uniform supplier in 2012, a Nike official said changes are coming to NFL jerseys. Nike plans to "dramatically" change NFL jerseys.

Nike Brand President Charlie Denson told Darren Rovell of CNBC that the change would be similar to changes that Nike has made to college football jerseys.

“We plan on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we’ve done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available,” Denson said. “The NFL program hasn’t had the same type of advancement in recent years."

After years of Reebok leading the way on NFL jerseys, it will be interesting to see what dramatic changes Nike comes up with. I just hope no NFL team follows the hideous example of Oregon in college football.

SBNATION's "The Hub" basically stated the same as other sources: "Nike already said, change IS coming..."

Remain Calm -- For Now

As you may have heard late last week, there was a serious urban myth going viral around NFL circles. The gist was that Nike, which will be taking over the league's uniform license in 2012, was already making plans to give the NFL a slight makeover.

First, just to clarify: Although several media outlets ran with the story (and at least one NFL head coach was actually asked about it), those mock-ups did not come from Nike, they're not on the NFL's drawing board and you will not be seeing them in 2012. Uni Watch has known that all along, and NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed it last Friday.

So if the uni designs aren't legit, what are they? They're just Photoshop concepts created by some fans with too much time on their hands. Images like these circulate every day on uni-centric message boards and blogs, and usually nobody outside of the insular uni-verse notices, but this set just happened to go viral.

But even if the mock-ups aren't real, are they representative of what the Nike folks are likely to do once they start steering the NFL's uniform ship? Maybe, but Uni Watch strongly doubts it. For starters, it's worth remembering that Nike handled about a third of the NFL's uniforms back in the 1990s, and the sky did not fall. More to the point, NFL teams aren't like college programs -- they don't change their uniforms every year or two, and they don't need to plaster their jerseys with video game graphics to impress 17-year-old recruits. They're mega-corporations that look at the long haul and the big picture, not short-term trends or flavors of the month. Heck, not a single NFL team revised its home or road uniforms this season.

Also, the NFL's longstanding rules regarding alternate uniforms (a team can have only one alternate or throwback design at a time and can only wear it for two regular-season games per year) don't encourage too much radical tinkering. It'll be interesting to see if the league revises those rules when the Nike contract kicks in.

In any event, whether you love Nike's approach to uniform design or hate it, the thing to remember here is that Nike can't unilaterally impose a design on a team. Like any outfitter, Nike can't do anything that a team doesn't agree to let them do, so the responsibility for safeguarding a team's aesthetic dignity ultimately lies with the team itself.

OFFICIAL NFL SUPPLIERS, MANUFACTURERS, ETC.:

Reebok will stay on through the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Starting in April 2012, the NFL will have seven major apparel partners:

New Era will be the official on-field headwear supplier and will produce headwear for the sidelines and for fans.

Armour will continue as the official sponsor of the NFL Scouting Combine. Under Armour will outfit Combine participants and also offer Combine apparel beginning in 2012.

GIII will continue as a key apparel partner manufacturing fan gear, including outerwear and lifestyle collections for men and women.

VF will continue as a key apparel partner manufacturing fan gear, including t-shirts and fleece.

Outerstuff will continue as the NFL’s youth apparel provider.

47 Brand will produce headwear for fans.

The NFL says there will be additional niche licenses awarded in the future.

For some reason I couldn't find the topic with the 2012 jersey discussion, maybe I'm getting confused with the one over at JerseyCentral.

Anyway! Nike Begins To Unveil 2012 NFL Gear; Previews Hyperwarm Shield Mock Base...
