PostSubject: Bleeding/staining????   Tue Feb 07 2012, 02:32

I just got a Jersey and all the signs as being legit are there as far as I can tell from my research.

This Sunday I wore it over a plain white t-shirt all day. By the end of the day when I took the jersey off I noticed that some of the color had rubbed off on to the t-shirt. Is this normal or do I have a pretty good fake? Any one else has had this experience?

I have not had this problem personally. The jersey should be colour fast. Are you able to add some pictures of the jersey?

I've never had this happen with any of my authentics. It sounds like it's fake. You can post pictures if you want us to let you know for sure. If you're having problems posting links (since you're a new member) just PM me the links directly.

Thanks for the response by the way.
Here are some pics. Hopefully they are what you were looking for.

Yep - it's definitely fake, which explains the colour running.

The ball in the neck tag in the first picture isn't as neat as it should be. The line under "49ers" looks squint (may just be the fold of the jersey). The NFL Equipment shield logo is off. The stitching around the jocktag makes it look as though it was done in the dark - the stitches should be a uniform distance from the edge. The stitching in the name / numbers isn't the worst I've seen, but isn't consistent with how Reebok make their jerseys.

Here's a couple of pics of how the NFL Equipment shield and jocktag for a jersey of that era should look - notice the shape and seams of the football in particular:

Well that explains the colour bleeding. I suspected it would be a fake jersey, I've never heard of a genuine one doing that. Are you able to return it to the seller?

No, I can't return it unfortunately, it was a gift and I can't very well go say "you gave me crap". I'll just have to love it. I have learned alot though, so I'm well arm for when I buy another one of another player. Thank you and the site for all the knowledge that is in here.

No one has to know and to an untrained eye I have a nice jersey.

Always a toughie when it's a gift.
