Has anyone bought an authentic jersey with a different name and number just to have it changed out? Does any know of companies which do this?

Sure, plenty of times. The issue has been that the NFL doesn't like you doing it as they want you to keep buying jerseys. So they stopped all customisation by outside companies, like Stahls, some years back. I understand that http://easternlettering.net can sell you a number kit, then you'd need to find a local seamstress to apply it. Another place to try is http://www.stt-sports.com. I understand that they will do everything for you in house.

So is stt-sports.com the only place to customize a NFL jersey? Or buying the number kit and having a local seamstress putting it on? I have a Chargers jersey I am looking to customize. I am in San Diego area, so I am willing to drive somewhere locally within So Cal region to get it done. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've bought letters off of seller Shaffersportswear on ebay before. They were authentic tackle twill lettering it seems like he used to do jerseys from the NFL and just is selling leftover stock. I would try that seller out here's the listing for number kits. Not sure if they can sew them together before hand or not:

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot although it looks like the seller is mostly into Raiders lettering.

I've used Big Time Jerseys in AZ before. It took a little while as I was picky with specifications (it was Bucs throwbacks, so not readily available). They also do the jerseys for the Coyotes and Suns, so naturally those are prioritized.

What are you planning converting from / to?

Didn't replace name and numbers but got this blank jersey customised to a Ricky Williams by Big Time Sports at RJ3000's recommendation.

I'd Recommend them 100%

Wow, that looks amazing!

I was very happy with the jerseys I had done, so glad someone else has had the same experience.

Yep, EPS sent me this reply when asking about customizing.................... "We are not allowed to work on pre-owned NFL as per our agreement with the NFL and NFLPA. We are only authorized to work on new Nike blanks sent direct by Nike for NFL authorized retailers and teams. We are still heavily involved in the NFL. Not my rule, but heavily enforced.

I asked about some complaints on NFL.com (NFL Shop) reviews are that the letters are smaller than On-Field, would expect the same as players when forking out $300 for an Authentic Elite, his reply was.......... "We donít currently work with NFLshop, if you order from there it will most likely be pretty sloppy. The only issue is the letters are too small and I cannot make changes to the files as per our agreement with the NFL, NFLPA, and NIKE. The numbers are the same as On Field, but the letters are not. We have fought these battles in the past almost to the point of losing our license, so I just do what Iím told these days. Usually standard is 3Ē, the Nike specs call for about 2.5Ē Usually we would make the adjustment regardless of the specs, but the plates provided by Nike arenít large enough to accommodate the larger letters and they conveniently wonít sell the material to make our own."
