Today 65 years ago the young men of Britain, America and Canada made an amphibious and airborne landings on the beaches and countryside of Normandy to liberate the peoples of Europe from the tyranny of the Nazi's.

My Grandfather, Reginald Lamb, went ashore on D-Day+3 and he never forgot the sights he saw 3 days after the landings or the months following. Thankfully he came home to his family.

I send my heartfelt thanks to all who took part and to those whose sacrifice should never be forgotten.

D Day was the invasion of Europe by the allies to displace the Nazi's in World War 2. Rememberance day is the national holiday to remember all those who gave their lives for Britain in all conflicts.

I only realised this was going on when i caught it on the TV while channel flicking. Certainly makes you think what they went through and overcame, kinda stops you moaning about the petty crap in your life.
Shame that modern europeans seem to have forgotten about it and the sacrifices our countrymen made. Only to be repaid by having european policies bend us over and make us jump through hoops.
